In July, we welcomed Colleen Synk to our team as the Operations Coordinator. Colleen comes to SRTS with experience in fostering healthy communities through sustainable food systems research and program management.
Colleen’s previous work has emphasized the use of collective impact strategies and community-led programming to engage stakeholders and foster collaborative programs. While Colleen’s past professional work has focused on food systems, she has volunteered for several youth bicycle programs in her spare time that have focused on student empowerment, safety, and violence prevention. She’s excited to support youth lifestyle programming by using her program management skills in a new capacity.
In her new position, Colleen is most looking forward to contributing to programs that concurrently develop a sense of joy for being active and instill healthy habits which benefit our communities in numerous ways.
In her spare time, Colleen can often be found exploring new ways to enjoy bicycling, be it playing bike polo, commuting around town, or tuning up other people’s bikes at the local bike cooperative. She also enjoys playing her ukulele, baking bread, and foraging for tasty plants while hiking.
