In addition to Bike and Roll to School Day, there are many ways to support and celebrate biking and active transportation across Michigan.

  • Participate in National Ride a Bike Day on Sunday, May 4.
  • Bike commute to work during Bike to Work Week from May 12-18 and/or Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 16.
  • Participate in a Bike Month challenge. Join a ride-tracking platform challenge or mix things up with Bike Month Bingo.
  • Just hop on your bike and go for a ride – short or long distances, solo or with a friend.
  • Improve your commute – Local Rideshare Offices help match commuters using car and vanpool groups. Some programs, like the Commuter Connect platform for the SEMCOG region, have special May promotions where users earn points and chances to win prizes for tracked improved commutes. Transit, carpooling, and telework all help reduce congestion and contribute to a safer riding environment for active transportation users.
  • Share your active transportation experiences with others. By offering your knowledge, experience, and tips, you’ll help instill confidence in others to explore and engage in active transportation.
